How Much is Two Plus Two?

…so I was reading my Ethics Textbook for some clue onto how I should write my Ethics Essay, and I came across this interesting short story on the second chapter:

“A large company was hiring a new CEO. The four leading candidates worked inside the company so the board decided to ask each candidate a very basic question.

The comptroller was brought in.

“How much is 2 plus 2?”

“This must be a trick question, but the answer is 4. It will always be 4.”

They brought in the head of research and development, an engineer by training.

“How much is 2 plus 2?”

“That depends on whether it is a positive 2 or a negative 2. It could be 4, zero or minus 4.”

The brought in the Head of Marketing.

“The way I figure, it, 2 plus 2 is 22.”

Finally, they brought in the legal counsel.

“How much is 2 plus 2?” they asked.

He looked furtively at each board member.

“How much do you want it to be?”

Anyway, I hate the module on Ethics – not because I’m unethical, but every way I think that I can write the article. I feel it’s not right.

I want to redesign this blog, but I’m just lazy. Too many things on my hands. Haven’t even got time to write a good article or two up here.

When I’m Not Interested in Something…

I’m really not!

…and if I’m being asked to do something that I’m not interested in but I have to do it, I don’t perform my best and I will not perform my best. Especially when they come with extremely unreasonable terms, and the benefit to effort ratio is almost equal to the size of bacterium.

On a completely unrelated note, I’m so glad another project’s done…two more on my hands now! And I stepped into Ion for the first time ever last Sunday with A and Jyes, I dislike going to town.

Cockroaches

I read a tip at Lifehacker earlier this morning on how to get rid of cockroaches:

Kathy writes about how to control a pest problem:

Nobody wants to admit they have a roach problem. Here, in Las Vegas, when one neighbor has the pest control guy spray their property, the ugly bugs will run to the next nearest property to get out of the heat. For some people, for one reason or another, spraying isn’t an option.

Here’s a safe approach to getting rid of roaches. Get yourself an empty glass jar. A washed out mayo jar will do. Dump your used coffee grounds into the jar; at least, enough to cover the bottom. Put the jar outside. You’ll need to sit the jar on the ground and tip it at a slight angle to lean against a wall or something. Don’t throw the lid away.

The roaches will not be able to resist the coffee’s aroma. They’ll climb up the wall and down into the jar to get to the grounds. Because the glass is slippery, they won’t be able to get out. If there are any roaches around, it won’t take long before you find your jar filling up. Get your gloves, put the lid on tight and toss the whole thing.

Just be sure you use your jar outside. You don’t want to lure the creepy crawlers into your house to get rid of them. Oh, a couple of spoons of wet instant coffee will work just as well.

On first glance, having read only the first paragraph, I thought – what a great idea! I thought I’d do it to get rid of these pesky little pests.

On second glance, after reading the next few paragraphs only 10 minutes later – no it isn’t. The cockroaches will still come, but get attracted to the jar instead, and then stay inside. In other words, what we’ll end up with is an entire jar of cockroaches – entirely disgusting :\.

And there is a cockroach on my toilet’s lid now, argh :\.
