TGIF!

I can’t wait till Friday. The most hectic week will be over!

All the papers were easy so far, or relatively easy – however, this isn’t good…moderation’s going to be a killer this time then. I love the Geography paper today, thank goodness I think I’m going to do well for it!

Anyway, my keyboard isn’t replaced yet – thanks Microsoft, for the great support service! :) – so, I suppose this post will be short too.

My nice little bottle of Snapple & bowl of Mango Ice Cream!

My nice little bottle of Snapple & bowl of Mango Ice Cream!

I’ve tried going to this place near my house, Icekimo to study based on a friend’s recommendation.

Quite a nice and cozy place I must say, but it gets really cold, like as if I’m in a real eskimo’s igloo after like 2 hours there. My cold tolerance level is very low however…but I’m able to stay in McDonalds for up to 6 hours, so I suppose it’s really cold.

Yesterday was the first time I tried something out of the usual $3.50 Ice Cream Float. I decided to try a $2.50 Snapple bottle, then a ice cream!

I can’t believe it. I’ve been there so many times, yet I’ve never tasted the Ice Cream before.

And….

IT’S AWESOME!

The Ice Cream Float I had on the 14th Of October. Its coke + some icecream, I think chocolate.

The half-drank Ice Cream Float I had on the 14th Of October. It's coke + some icecream, I think chocolate.

Very nice! But can’t eat it too often, it’s quite expensive :( . $2.80 for one scoop, $0.50 for the waffle bowl/cone.

As for ice cream floats, I think the worst combination I tried so far is Coke + Belgian Chocolate. I’m not going to try that ever again. It’s like the worst tasting combination ever. Anything and everything probably tastes better than that…

Ought to finish those unfinished posts I should finish whilst they’re still fresh in my memory.

I forgot my Wordpress password today while trying to login – so much for trying to use “remember me” all the time. And since I don’t have an email associated with my account, I was kind of in trouble – yes, my wordpress isn’t the standard issue, I’ve modified it. Hence, I had to reset the password the hard way…then found out that they didn’t encrypt it using only MD5 Hashes but with a custom/whatever encryption method. Maybe I shall write a nice tutorial on resetting your own Wordpress password sometime soon.

Ciao, time to prepare for tomorrow! It’s an early paper :( .

P.S. Awesome, I published this as a page instead of a post.

Either or Or

I did the dumbest thing anyone could ever do.

Do both either and or – and got a very very bad scolding.

Stupidity kills. Now to hope that they aren’t too strict with the either or questions.

Anyway, today’s Chemistry paper was simple, everyone else said so too.

The bell curve’s going to be sky high :( .

It’s only a day away.

I can’t wait till its all over.

Meanwhile, I find it an extreme pain to type with the keyboard still not working well.

Installing FFmpeg and ffmpeg-php on a cPanel Server

This article is much outdated now. As of today (10th March 2009), I’m closing comments for this post. You should seriously be using the latest version of ffmpeg and ffmpeg-php 0.6.0, they seem to work fine with each other. There shouldn’t be a need to go back to the old version – besides, we should just move on.

Prelude: There are a million and one possible errors that can appear when you install this. But seriously, I don’t have the answers to most of them, if I do, I’d have recorded it down here. Chances are that I won’t be able to answer your question/problem because I don’t do FFmpeg installs often enough to encounter all the weird scenarios. Hence, please do not post comments asking me about these problems, comments giving thanks to this walkthrough or correcting minor typos, or wanting to donate money to me via PayPal :P are all fine.

Kindly do some Googling on your own and I wish you all the best in resolving these issues, as I certainly had problems myself trying to Google out answers and had to trial and error certain parts, while hoping that I don’t wreck the live server I was working on.

Just earlier today, I had to install FFmpeg and ffmpeg-php on a cPanel server. WHMXtra had previously been used to install FFmpeg and ffmpeg-php, but it didn’t quite work out.

There are probably a million guides out there, but seemingly most of them I’ve found are not so complete – and I’ve had to continuously search for solutions on the various (I must say, many…) errors I’ve encountered.

Here goes, my first time writing an installation walk-through:

Farewell Assembly/Graduation

I’m not going to go on a long speech here about the graduation today because my keyboard is irritating me. The “r” key isn’t working very well, and it’s affecting the other keys that are nearby too. Now, when I want to type “r”, I use my clipboard. Anyway…

Farewell Assembly/Graduation

10 years. 10 long years. 10 long years that ended today.

Many “last” things happened over this week (save for PE lessons which ended last week). The last lessons of my school life for each subject, last assembly. My official last lesson was English.

It’s been a nice 10 years in this school. The official lessons have ended, now for the unofficial ones.

Today, we had the farewell assembly. Interesting, memorable one.

It ended at about 1pm, whereupon we were dismissed. I collected my report book for the last time, which I’d never have to return again…I suppose I’m used to being scolded for conveniently forgetting my report book when I have to return it.

We had food – Pizzas and Bubble Tea (I think Pizzas are the norm everywhere -.-”). The Bubble Tea was either with Egg or Mango pudding, I heard both versions – maybe it simply just contains both of them :P .

Maybe I’ll continue this next time, about the farewell assembly.

Later part of the day…

Went home later, logged on and got a message from Dan – and this got me cursing at CentOS and Yum now – and till now, I still am. It’s a really weird problem – a newer version of CentOS is installed and yet somehow or another, an old version of Yum (yum –version) is installed. That’s not that bad, because I could just jolly well reinstall everything but rpm says that the newest package is installed -.-”.

The CD is probably 6 years old.

And the CD itself - scratchful.

But anyhow, I got a little too distracted with his problem that I forgot about the time. I had to meet this guy who wanted to buy my Midtown Madness 2 CD at Bugis.

Of course, Murphy’s Laws come into play – if anything can go wrong, it will.”

I went out, needing to take 851. But here’s the problem – there was no bus in sight, save for a Nissan CSS on 852 and the fact that there was no one at the bus stop – which probably means I missed all possible combinations of buses I can take except for the one staring at me.

Facing time and the situation at hand, I boarded the bus and took it for one stop. The distance of one stop here is 2 roads away, not the normal distance of two bus stops that we’d normally see. Over there, I was hoping that a bus I can transfer to Thomson Road would come (more options there). Alas, it doesn’t – one that doesn’t go near there, but brings me closer to Thomson Road. Hence, I boarded 132. Alighted at SJI – and no buses arrive for the next 5 minutes. Great! Then 167 came about, I took it to Thomson Medical Center (finally!) and there I had much more choices. By then I was already 10 minutes late – and the thought of cabbing down snuck into my mind, since it isn’t nice of me to be late. But it was for a legitimate reason :P . Ignoring that, I waited for the next bus to change to – and 851 arrived – which means I’ve just spent my time changing buses for nothing.

Nevertheless, I spent only a exorbitant sum of $0.00 changing buses and for the whole journey. The journey to Bugis was only 15 minutes by the way and the reason why I didn’t pick the cab was because it was only 15 minutes away.

Anyhow, after parting with the disc. I went over to the bus stop to catch a bus to the usual place I studied. Whilst waiting, this guy came up to me and asked me how to get to Chinatown – of course, 851 – I told him. Then he said I need to get to Hill Street. It wasn’t particularly helpful that he started with Chinatown then said Hill Street, because Hill Street isn’t in Chinatown (although near) – so I was actually thinking along the lines of Hill Street, Chinatown and I thought it didn’t exist.

Suddenly I recalled, and asked him if it was near Funan – he said he doesn’t know and then showed me a map. My thoughts: Why couldn’t you just show me earlier -.-”, by then I had already started Nokia Maps on my phone. Anyhow, I managed to direct him to the place with the most precise instructions I could give – and, he didn’t want to go to Hill Street. He wanted to go to The Central, which wasn’t quite along Hill Street, but more like – near Hill Street.

My bus arrived right after I was done with him – how timely, and his arrived behind mine too. Took the bus all the way to my usual study haunt – and it was crowded today! :o Almost everyone studying there seemed like ‘O’ Level Students, I was doing Chemistry to prepare for Saturday. These 2 girls next to me were doing Integration and Differentiation on Maths and possibly other things.

Doing Chemistry :)

Then I recalled – Shit! I forgot to hand up my work to my teacher!

To make things worst, I called her to ask her if she wants me to hand it up today by hook or by crook because I thought I had the paper with me and could just drop by school to hand it up since it was my fault for forgetting. Thank goodness she said she didn’t want it today anymore – because, I didn’t have the paper with me :\.

Anyway, after studying till almost 9PM. I went joy-riding on buses, while reading my History Notes (studying on the fly).

  • 190 from Scotts Road to Choa Chu Kang Interchange
  • 927 from Choa Chu Kang Interchange to Mandai Road
  • 171 from Mandai Road to Yishun Interchange
  • 852 from Yishun Interchange to Home.

The moment I reached home – started solving Dan’s issue again – but to no avail :( .

I’ll try tomorrow, if I have the time to. Meanwhile, I think I better stop here although I’d probably have much more. I can’t believe I typed so much without the “r” button.
